Remodeling contractors to register by July 1; liability insurance required
Home improvement contractors doing more than $5,000 worth of business per year must register with the Attorney General's office before July 1, 2009 and attest that they carry more than $50,000 of liability insurance.

The Attorney General's Web site now features a special page on the law and an online registration application. Members may face increased questions from their contractor clients who are in the process of registering. On the insurance side, the information needed will include: Insurer name and NAIC number, policy number, expiration date and limits for "personal injury" and "property damage;" the term "personal injury," in this instance, is to be understood as "bodily injury."
